What is a Gold Valve - It's just a much better damping medium.
The Gold Valve Damping System improves control, traction, bottoming resistance
and provides a firm but plush ride. The Gold Valve replaces the
original stock pistons in the Forks or Shock. Superior oil flow from a redesigned
piston Ensures minimum harshness, along with specific valving for your weight and riding style, all
working towards achieving your own personal suspension setup.
Due to mass production considerations it's impossible for manufactures to set up a stock bike
for everyone. Add to this the design limitations with most stock pistons and you soon find a
considerable amount of room for improvement.Gold valves optimize the flow area of the piston
placing valving control on the shim stack. This results in outstanding
tunability. The Gold Valve system is a proven bolt-on valving system that
improves performance by efficiently managing fluid flow where it is most critical.
Given that oil is a non-compressable fluid, maximum flow ensures minimum harshness.
What does the ultimate front end feel like? It's controlled, doesn't dive excessively,
it's firm yet plush at the same time. Stock cartridge forks, at best, can be a compromise
and some are downright poor. Race Tech's original bolt-on fork valving system for cartridge
forks helps to alleviate many of the problematic symptoms of hydrualic motion control. Stock
valving pistons can have very restrictive ports. Given that oil cannot compress, This makes
it almost impossible to get the ultimate results with the inadequate flow pistons. Gold valves
maximise the flow area putting the valving control directly on the shim stack instead of the
piston. This results in outstanding tunability, improved control, traction, plushness and
bottoming resistance.
Type 2 Gold Valve are specifically designed for Supercross and very aggressive motorcross
applications. Like the original Gold Valve but designed for when more bottoming
resistance is required.
The Race Tech Gold Valve is a revolution in damping control. Increased flow area puts valving control on the shim stack for outstanding tuneability from Trail to Supercross. Improved, long wearing, low friction sealing design decreases fade.
Some motorcycles use inexpensive, "old style" compression valves which have very limited performance capilities. The adjustable Gold Valve Assembly includes state-of-the-art Gold Valves as well as externally adjustable low-speed compression damping. Provides more control, a smoother ride and more bottoming resistance. Used in XR400, CR 80/85, RM85. Also available is the new "Alessi" valve - has the settings used for Mike and Jeff Alessi.
Many rebound valving systems are grossly inadequate. No matter what modifications are attempted, the forks will never perform the with presision and control of Race Tech improved units. Rebound Gold Valves are available for selected street and racing applications and have been used extensively by major road race teams. Also now available for the most 85cc motocrossers as well as KLX, TTR, DR and XR250s
